FAQ

Questions, answered properly.

These are the same answers the team gives every day — including the actual reason behind each behaviour, not just the workaround.

Which Java version do I need?
Java 21 for Minecraft 1.21.x, and Java 25 for 26.x. Minecraft 1.21.x will not start on an older JRE — and a newer JDK, 25 for example, fails before the game loads. If Hero Client does not appear at all, check this first: it is the single most common reason it looks broken.
Which Minecraft versions are supported?
1.21 through 1.21.11 plus experimental 26.1 through 26.3 builds — 17 releases in total, each with its own real JAR.
Is Hero Client a fork or a wrapper?
Neither — it is an original client built from scratch on Fabric.
Does it require an account?
No. Downloading and playing is free and account-free. An account is only used for optional social and cloud-sync features.
How does the AI assistant work?
Bring-your-own-key across OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter and Ollama, with encrypted key storage. It is part of the planned Phase 2 parity pass — not yet shipped.
Is it stable yet?
Version 2.2 is in beta. Every listed feature is implemented — no dead toggles — but expect some rough edges while the full 200-spec set is completed.
How do I install it?
Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version, drop the Hero Client JAR and Fabric API into your mods folder, launch with the Fabric profile and press M.
Can I rebind keys?
Yes — the Keybind Editor (press M, then Keybinds) supports click-to-rebind, conflict detection and per-row reset. Every bind persists between sessions.
Is it client-side only?
Yes. Hero Client runs entirely on your machine and requires nothing on the server. Features that touch multiplayer state respect server rules.
How do I report a bug?
Use the support portal — it routes your report to the right place with the right details. The crash handler also produces a detailed report you can attach.

Reporting a bug

What to include.

A good report gets fixed faster. The client's crash handler produces most of this automatically.

Include

  • Client version and Minecraft version
  • Java version (21 for 1.21.x, 25 for 26.x)
  • The crash report or latest.log
  • Steps to reproduce, even rough ones
  • Other mods installed alongside

Common culprits first

  • Wrong Java version — the #1 reason the client "does not appear"
  • Missing Fabric API next to the Hero Client JAR
  • Mods folder shared with other clients or launchers
  • 26.x builds are experimental — expect rough edges

Still stuck after all that?

The support portal routes your report to the right place with the right details — or jump into the Discord and ask directly.
